Lili Caseley Added to LauFest Lineup of Strong Female Acts
Hailing from North London, Lili Caseley is an emerging multi-talented singer and songwriter who’s winning the hearts of fans and critics alike with her meaningful soul pop about lovers and experiences, past and present. Her songs, deceptively simple in structure but teeming with emotional honesty, are influenced by her Portuguese/French heritage, legendary poets and the biggest pop talents of today. We are so excited to have this London songstress grace the main stage as she kicks off the female-focused soul and folk day on the Sunday lunchtime!
Lili Caseley has a touch of the classic and a taste for the modern. Her tunes are laced with good feeling and each has something you can groove to. It’s just the way she plays it. In love with music, she has soaked up all manner of influences – from Aretha Franklin to Mary J. Blige – while searching for her own sound.
Who is Lili Caseley?
Lili Caseley has a sophisticated sound, both infectious and retaining hidden depths and punctuated with sombre themes such as heartbreak and loss. With a Portuguese and French heritage, Lili grew up listening to a wide variety of music styles which has fed into her song writing. She is inspired by Fado music – Amália Rodrigues, Mariza – French music – Jacques Brel, Charles Aznavour – and English influences too including Queen and The Beatles. Other world music which inspires her includes artists such as Amadou and Miriam and Seu Jorge. Not forgetting the likes of Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald; Johnny Cash, Bob Marley… an eclectic melting pot of influences indeed! And one which helps to shape the unique sound showcased by Lili today.
On playing live, Lili says,
“The more gigs you do the more confident you get as you have more experience! It’s just about transforming your fear into motivation, using it as an accelerator rather than a break. You’ll notice that all performers describe a certain buzz or high after a show and its definitely worth getting through the nerves to feel it… A lot of rehearsing helps too! I think being a BBC Introducing featured artist, putting out a song I love, and connecting with people at shows! This year I’m looking forward to having more fun and releasing more music and doing more shows with more people to party with.”
Lili has already won support from respected music titles like Clash and Notion, while receiving coveted airplay from Radio 1Xtra’s Toddla T on Target’s show and Radio 6’s Tom Robinson, on his BBC Introducing mixtape show.
Lili is excited to play LauFest as she adores connecting with the public and getting her music out there. And we can’t wait to see what she’s got to offer the LauFest-ers on the weekend of 2-4th August!
