Because Happy Kids = Happy Grown-Ups!
As you know, we pride ourselves on being the most heart-filled family-friendly festival in the Westcountry and take time to carefully source acts which will not only delight adults, but excite our little people too!
Happy kids make happy parents, so we work hard to secure a treasure trove of fun and magic to keep your little ones entertained for the whole LauFest weekend. What better way to spend the first weekend of the summer holidays than camping, dancing and enjoying LauFest with the whole family!?
Devon’s Favourite Family-Friendly Festival
As well as the bevy of talented UK musicians we’ve secured for your listening pleasure, this year we have some amazing activities for children to enjoy. Take a look at what they can look forward to below…
Churchwood Valley Forest School
Emma Draper is a fully DBS checked Level 3 Forest School Leader who is passionate about encouraging children to have fun in the beautiful great outdoors. She has been teaching Forest School for the last two years and can’t wait to join us at LauFest. Creating wild art, making nature crowns, making a forest hobby horse, bush craft and toasting giant marshmallows over the fire are just some of the kids activities that children (and adults!) can get look forward to over the weekend of 2-4th August.
Absolute Bubble Football are the UK’s leading bubble football organisation, bringing joy to football pitches and big smiles to faces all across the country!! Adults and children alike can test their skills against friends and family this year at LauFest whilst playing games including bulldog, last man standing, rolling races, sumo and more. If the sun shines (and this year it will!) you can also look forward to a giant slip n’ slide to keep kids and adults alike cool and having the most fun you can have in a field. We can assure that you wouldn’t have laughed this much in ages!
School of Noise
We are delighted to have the School of Noise join us this year at LauFest bringing with them music, noise and the science of sound workshops for all ages. Using a wide variety of analogue and digital machines, activities include learning about the science of sound, playing on rare instruments such as a waterphone and theremin, composing experimental sound art, Foley sound design, field recording, conducting orchestras of fruit and vegetables, soundwalks, learning about acoustic ecology and so much more. Mini LauFest-ers are going to LOVE it.
“The School of Noise is one of those ideas that you just KNOW is right: bringing back a sense of wonder & accessibility to music-making. Music is organised noise & organising noise is fun!”
“School of Noise – where future Aphex Twins can make their own experimental electronic beats.”
“School of Noise is a brilliant idea: introducing children to a world of sound and the machinery to make it.”
Baba Yaga Circus Skills
What child doesn’t love the magic and intrigue of the circus!? This year we are delighted to welcome Baba Yaga to our family-friendly festival in Devon, teaching an awesome selection of circus skills to children and adults alike! With stilt walkers, aerial acts and so much more, Baba Yaga’s circus skills will delight and evoke wonder across the whole weekend and we can’t wait!
Whether you’re here for the family-friendly festival entertainment, the incredible line up of top UK musicians, or just to enjoy the vibe, LauFest will be a treat for the whole family. We love kids in fancy dress so feel free to let your kids dress up in their favourite sparkly/crazy/animal outfits! There will be face paint, glitter (so much glitter) and more fun than you can shake a flamingo’s tail at. Just make sure you buy your tickets in good time as we only have a limited amount left – click below to join the party…
